Fun Things to do & Great Things to Eat in Cornwall for Easter 2018

We’re hoping that the snow might have thawed by the time Easter comes around so that we can get out and enjoy some of the days out that Cornwall has to offer for this seasonal period, because when it comes to fun activities and exciting events, there are lots to choose from!

From discovering gallery exhibitions to family friendly egg hunts and lively music nights there’s something for everyone and you can top it all off with that all-important Sunday roast at one of our many famed eateries.

Take in Art

It goes without saying that we’re suckers for great art. We’ve got a lot going on at our own little St Mawes Gallery this Easter but we’re not the only ones and we’ll certainly be getting out to see some of the fantastic exhibitions making their way to the area over the next month.

Visit Tate St Ives to celebrate one of Cornwall’s most acclaimed artists, Patrick Heron in a show spanning his whole career demonstrating the evolution of his abstract work from the 40s to the end of the 20th century or take in art inspired by the works of Virginia Woolf this April. Take a trip to Trelissick House to soak up three exhibitions celebrating 100 years of women securing the vote or pop over to the Cotehele Gallery for a Paul Jackson display – one of Britain’s leading ceramicists.

Events at Trerice

Just a 45-minute drive from our gallery you’ll find Trerice – a National Trust Elizabethan Manor House with an awful lot going on.

Events are held in this stunning location all year round and Easter is no different. Unwind to the cool sounds of a local Jazz quartet at the dinner and jazz evening on the 23rd March or dance the night away to Rockabilly sounds on the 31st March; Treat the family to the Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt around the sculpted gardens on the 30th March or step back in time and take in some of the fascinating history behind this medieval treasure with a History of Archaeology walking tour and Tudor costume day.

Find out more about what’s on, on the Trerice website.

Easter Egg Hunts

Aside from the hunt taking place at Trerice, there are plenty of others dotted around Cornwall for you and the family to take part in. The Eden Project is well worth going to between the 24th March and 15th April for the Easter Eggstravaganza! With egg hunts, assault courses, Easter inspired games and lots more, this three-day programme has it all.

For an Easter egg hunt with a difference, you’ll love the Quest for the Golden Egg – a pirate’s quest that pays homage to Cornwall’s pirating past.

The Best Easter Lunch

If there was ever a good excuse to indulge in a huge Sunday lunch, it’s Easter. We’ve got some fantastic restaurants and gastro pubs dotted around Cornwall so take your pick!

The Star & Garter in Falmouth is renowned for their sensational roasts and offers a beautiful bay view and a roaring fire to enjoy it by or try The Springer Spaniel in Launceston, run by Master Chef winner Anton Piotrowski, as the place to go for affordable luxury.
